How to read these NOAA counts

One day, not every report. Multiple records on the same calendar day count once for each measure, which reduces double counting when one storm creates several reports.

What “1-inch hail” means. The damaging-hail count uses reported hail magnitude of at least 1 inch. That threshold is a clear screening signal, not a diagnosis of roof damage.

Geographic limit. Statewide data cannot tell you what happened at an address. Open a city page for local county coverage and current preliminary reports.
